FAQs

These are some of the FAQ that might help. If the answer that you are looking for is not here, please email to us with your question(s) and we will happily help you out.

1. HOW MANY CLOTH DIAPERS TO USE?

For full time cloth diapering, we recommend using 24 diapers. For day time diapering only, you would need an estimate of 4-6 diapers per day depending on your babies' needs.

2. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EASI AIO AND DRYZ POCKET

EASI AIO is made from 100% cotton with a hidden layer of waterproof nylon PU coated material and 5 layers of cotton soakers. EASI AIO do do not require any insertion of soaker since it's already built in the diaper. Nevertheless, if your baby is a heavy wetter, we do recommend that you place an additional soaker on top of the inner diaper for extra absorbency. When using with our soaker, make sure that the suedcloth is facing upwards touching baby's skin for a dry effect. Since EASI diaper is made from 100% cotton, its perfect for babies who are allergic to polyester fabric (such as DRYZ diaper). It is also cooling to use in our warm weather. Take note that diapers made from 100% cotton is not as waterproof as those made from polyster such as DRYZ. Thus, EASI AIO is not recommended for night time use or for long outing. When using at night or long outing, please use the diaper with a diaper cover such as Prorap for extra protection against leak.

DRYZ diapers has an outer layer of waterproof polyester fabric and an inner layer of suedecloth sewn in a pocket form. These pocket is for insertion of soakers and also act as a stay-dry barrier, leaving your baby's bottom dry even though the soaker inside is wet. Absorbency can be customised by adding additional soaker into the pocket. We recommend using DRYZ for night time diapering. Please take note that babies that are allergic to polyester fabric might develop redness when using DRYZ diaper. For allergic babies, please use EASI diaper which is made from 100% cotton instead.

3. WHAT IS A SOAKER?

A soaker is made from layers of absorbent fabric designed to absorb the wetness when use inside a cloth diaper. They are washable and reusable and can be used alone or in pairs etc for extra absorbency. You may sew your own soaker to be used in cloth diaper as long as the material is absorbent enough to absorb baby's urine.

4. CAN I WASH SOAKER AND CLOTH DIAPER WITH BRUSH?

Yes. It's also machine washable. Remember that if you wash roughly, then the lifespan of the diapers won't be long but if you take care of them just like your clothing, then the lifespan may go up to 5 years.

5.WHY IS THE DIAPER LEAKING?

All diapers even disposables will leak if they are not changed when its time to do so. Diaper leaking could be due to several things: diapers not absorbent enough for your heavy wetter baby, the diapers wicks or repel and using incorrect diaper size.

If your diaper leaks, please check that the soaker used is enough to absorb your baby's urine. Some baby is a heavy wetter and some are not. If you baby is a heavy wetter, use additional soaker to ensure the absorbency is enough for your baby. Soakers and diapers that are not washed properly may repel water. Repelling is where you will see that water will roll off the side of the diaper or soaker instead of being absorbed into the soaker. Causes of repelling include using softener when washing and also built up of detergent in the diaper. Please ensure that you do not use softener and rinse your diaper with lots of water to ensure that there are no detergent residue left in the diaper. If leaking persist, try stripping the diaper by washing in hot water and use dishwashing soap to get rid of the residues. Another reason why diaper leaks is because your baby is not wearing the correct diaper size. Ensure that the diaper is snug and that there is not too much "room" around the legs. If too much space around the leg, this will lead to leaking at the legs.

When using with our soaker, please make sure that you pre-wash the diaper and soaker in hot water before using. This is to get rid of any oil residue from the manufacturing of the fabric. The soaker will be more absorbent after few washings. We also recommend that you wash the diaper and soakers in hot water every 2 weeks to ensure that any detergent residue is washed away to ensure optimum absorbency.

Sometime, your baby is also a heavy wetter. If this is so, try using 2 soakers instead of 1. Or mix and match the soakers with our cotton soakers and other soakers made from hemp or micorfiber.

5. WHAT DETERGENT TO USE WHEN WASHING CLOTH DIAPER?

In Malaysia, choices of detergents are limited. If buying from the shop, we recommend using Persil, Breeze and Bio-degradeable Oxygenated washing powder available from Just Life stores. Please do not use any softener with your diaper. Another detergent that we strongly recommend is Charlie's Soap which we really love not only for our cloth diaper but also for everyday clothing. It works great, perfect for those with skin allergic and also biodegradeable. You can get Charlie's Soap from our store under Accessories section.

6. WHAT IS YOUR RECOMMENDED DIAPER, EASI OR DRYZ?

We love both of our diapers. We suggest that you have a mixture of both - use EASI when at home and DRYZ when your'e out and about and at night. Make sure you have additional soakers for extra absorbency. For newborn babies, we suggest that you start off with either a prefold with a diaper cover or our EASI diaper. These are made from 100% cotton and thus are gentle to newborn babies skin. Also, the DRYZ diaper might be big for newborn babies to use. DRYZ are perfect to use when babies are bigger around 3 months old (depending on baby's size).

7. I HAVE THE ONESIZE DRYZ DIAPER AND THE SOAKER. WHICH SIDE OF THE SOAKER IS THE CORRECT SIDE?

Our soakers are made from layers of cotton fabric and topped with suedecloth or microfleece. There are 2 ways to use the soaker. Firstly, you may use the soaker by laying them on top of the diaper. When using this way, make sure that the suedecloth or microfleece is on top touching baby's skin. Secondly, the soaker may be used inside the pocket diaper. When used this way, please make sure that the cotton terry side is facing upwards and the suedecloth facing downwards. This way, the absorbency will be faster.

8. DRYZ CAN LAST FOR HOW LONG?

It can last between 3-5hrs depending on baby. Due to this, yes, its recommended for outdoor. To increase absorbency, use additional soaker. If too bulky when using 2 soakers, you can replace the soakers with other slim soakers/inserts available in the market for example soakers/inserts made from microfiber, or hemp etc. It can also be used during nighttime. But this depends on individual baby. If the baby s heavy wetter, you still need to change them at night. Again, play around with the soakers/inserts. The soakers/inserts will determine the absorbency of the diaper and how long it will last for a baby.

9. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENT BETWEEN CLOTH DIAPER VS DISPOSABLE DIAPERS ABSORBILITY?

Please remember that cloth diaper cannot absorb like disposables since it is made from cotton/cloth and has no chemical. In disposable diapers, there's chemical beads called polyacrylate inside that can absorb so much urine that it can last for 12 hrs. This chemical is dangerous as it is known to be carcinogen which can lead to cancer. That is why we always have to change cloth diaper frequently compared to disposables. But using cloth diaper today is easier than using the traditional lampin. Also, good for the pocket in the long run and has no chemicals that is dangerous to babies.

10.Will the baby will feel hot when wearing EASI FITTED?

Diapers made from cotton are not hot although it looks hot due to the many layers since cotton is breathable fabric hence, air will be circulated. But pocket diapers that has polyester fabric such as suedecloth and microfleece should not be used for extended hours. Some babies are known to perspire when using this type of diapers and those with sensitive skins will have redness (heat rash) which is more related to the heat. This redness will go away when the diaper is changed. Babies are different hence different babies will react differently to the types of cloth diaper used. Some can only use all cotton diapers and some can use pockets which are made from polyester fabric.

11. It takes how long to dry a cloth diaper?

As for drying, in our hot weather, it should not be long. If wash in the morning with the sun shining hot, by afternoon, it should be dry. Machine wash will tend to dry faster than hand wash. Our EASI fitted will dry a bit longer, usually 1 day due to the internal soakers sewn inside the diaper.
